Arthur's Pass is renowned for train spotting. This old steam train still occasionally pulls passengers up from Christchurch.
The Trans Alpine Express is regarded as one of the seven best train journeys in the world. The Trans Alpine winds through the Southern Alps and stops off at the Arthur's Pass Train Station.
